Casimero Fuentes

Casimero ends Fuentes in round 1

Despite losing his IBF Junior Flyweight Championship belt after failing to meet the 108 lbs requirement during the weigh in, John Reil “Quadro Alas” Casimero did a walk-in-the-park demolition job to Colombian challenger Mauricio Fuentes in the first round during the “Pinoy Knockout” at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, May 3.

Even though Casimero is already stripped of his belt for weighing 5 lbs heavier, he was determined on giving his opponent a tough fight as he is mainly fueled by pride and honor and the determination to campaign for the flyweight division in his next fights.

The opening salvo proved to be tough for Fuentes as Casimero meant serious business in finishing his tormentor as early as the first round. The Colombian challenger went down twice in the first two minutes of their exchanges until the game was over for Fuentes in the crucial 2:59 of round 1 after Casimero delivered a powerful right punch straight into Fuentes’ face.

Casimero now adds another victory to his impressive record, having only 2 defeats and 20 victories and is eyeing on the 112 lbs division with more competitive boxers in the line.

“Pinoy Knockout” also showed supporting bouts and 3 other title fights—vacant WBF Super-Featherweight Championship, vacant WBF Asia Pacific Super Bantamweight Championship, and Philippine Lightweight Championship. Pinoy Knockout results are as follows:
